Am I Infertile?

Your New Life Gyn doctor may diagnose infertility if you haven’t conceived after a full year of regular sex without birth control of any type. If you’re over 35, your doctor can make an infertility diagnosis after six months instead. If you’re over 40, your doctor can potentially make the infertility diagnosis before that.

The reason that you can’t conceive might not be you, but whether it’s a problem with you, your partner, or both, the New Life Gyn team can help.

What Causes Infertility?

There are many possible answers. Sometimes, it’s one simple thing and, in other cases, there are multiple contributing factors. Your gynecologist at New Life Gyn performs a comprehensive exam, reviews your menstrual cycle history, and then does other tests like blood tests, ovulation tests, ultrasound, fallopian tube check, and semen analysis for your partner to determine the cause of your infertility.

Ovulation disorders like polycystic ovary syndrome cause about one out of every four cases of infertility. Fallopian tube damage like pelvic inflammatory disease and uterine problems like endometriosis and fibroids are also common causes of infertility. In some cases, there’s no obvious reason for infertility.
